How did KendoMurft start streaming?
Kendo became a VTuber by accident. In a 2022 interview with Mexican outlet Multianime he said he first used VRChat, a game where you take an avatar and talk to other people, to make his chat more dynamic. Later a friend invited him into a VTuber group, and in his words he became a VTuber without even knowing it.
An older version of his Twitch bio, written when he had been streaming for about eight months, said he was a student living in the United States, from Mexico, with no single favorite game but a lot of love for Zelda and Minecraft. His X account was created in April 2020.
On May 25, 2022, Twitch celebrated Geek Pride Day with a lineup of VTubers, and Kendo was among the streamers named in coverage from Codigo Espagueti.
The Rubius collaboration and the Spanish-language Twitch crowd
In the Multianime interview, Kendo named a collaboration with the Spanish streamer Rubius as the biggest moment of his career so far. He said Rubius agreeing to work with him backed up the idea that he was doing good work as a VTuber.
His Twitch archive shows what the channel looked like in those years. Titles include a Squid Craft Minecraft stream where he reviewed deaths from the server, a reaction stream tied to a Reddit revival, and an extended Resident Evil 4 marathon that ran past 27 hours across multiple days.
Later VODs lean on Just Chatting with themed specials, among them a beach episode, a maid special with his viewers, a card game with fellow streamer Blandship, and a Tournament of the Webones in Left 4 Dead.
